Thelma Louise (Lofton) Mouning daughter of late Lemuel & Lenora (Langley) Lofton was born in Greenville, North Carolina on November 15, 1937. She departed this life on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Thelma worked at Yale University as a Laboratory Aide for over 35 years and worked side-by-side with her late husband Johnnie L. Mouning, all those years. Thelma loved the Lord. As a child of God, she faithfully served Him and His people through the years. She was an active and involved member wherever she attended, being faithful in serving and giving. Whether serving as a Deaconess, First Lady, or Church Mother, Thelma loved her church family and always showed up in so much style.
She leaves to mourn, her four sons: Marvin of Branford, CT, Gregory of North Haven, CT, Jeffrey (Linda) of North Branford, CT, Kenneth (Rose-Marie) of Granby, CT; six grandchildren: Marcus (Justyne), Jordan, Kenneth Jr., Malachi, Kenya, and Nairobi; three sisters: Peggy (Jimmie) Moore, Catherine “Scottie” Langley, Lillie (Arthur) Day; and one brother: Lemuel Lofton, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved late husband of 50 years, Rev. Johnnie L. Mouning; her parents Lemuel & Lenora (Langley) Lofton; and sister Delois (Eric) Harris.
The funeral will be held at Hope Christian Church, 211 Montowese Ave., North Haven, CT on Friday, June 28, 2024. Viewing hour will be 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at Hope Christian Church's YouTube Channel @HopeChristianChurch8592. The burial will be held immediately following the service at Beaverdale Memorial Park., Inc., 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven, CT. Repast will be held at Hope Christian Church following the burial.
